Festival Aftermath

Its been a couple of crazy days since the last post...here's what we;ve been doing:

Before leaving Des Moines, we walked down to the Millert High Life Lounge for a mid0day beer. THE CHAMPAGNE OF BARS was dope! felt like home...

The Green Room in Iowa city was pretty cool, we ended up playing an opening set for the Jenson Connection- a funky-Panic meets Sublime kinda thang- good band. Some dudes from the University of Iowa came down and filmed the showfor their college TV station...also got interviewed before hand...look for that soon. Thanks to Lboz and Charlie for driving from DPort to see us at the Green Room, and big thanks to David Zollo for putting it all together. check out http://www.davidzollo.com

Friday in Davenport was killer. We played the official Festival Afterparty across the street from LeClaire Park, a place called QC Live. It was basically a warehouse with a big PA and a bar. The Strange Neighbors kicked thinngs off, they were very cool...The show itself was rowdy and high energy. The pogo stick duel towards the end was etra special- I pulled out the no hander, then nailed the dismount to the stage...

The Festival Set on Saturday was something we've been preparing for for a while now. There was a lot of anticipation and nervous energy- mainly because the Soul Rebels (schedule before us) hadn't shown up for loadin. They were just MIA...the organizers asked us to move up our time slot to fill in for them, but just as we started setting up- the Soul Rebels pulled up backstage- they got out of their car and literally walked right on stage and started blowing the funk. Straight drive from New Orleans...They actually sounded great. We asked them to sit in with us for the Message, but they declined, apparently- they had a gig in NOLA the next day and had to drive straight back immediately-DAMN- thats a power tour.

Our set finally came, and just as a decent crowd was forming on the lawn. We rocked out for 55minutes and even pulled out the pogo stick for a minute, almost leveling the keyboard rig...It felt really good on that stage- we'd made it, and the eather was great, people danced and semed to enjoy us a lot. Success! now time to party.

Thanks to RME and K squared productions for a top notch event. Also thanks to Dustin of the Strange Neighbors- he iu=nvited GG to their Sunday Jam Sesh at a little pub down the street. So we got another impromptu show last nioght- crowd ate it up, and we got to pull out some dusty gems for the intimate affair. Mo finished the night with a haunting rendition of No Quarter by Led Zeppelin.

Today is Monday and we're regrouping- doing laundry, fixing the RV generator, and getting ready for the 2nd leg. Got a last minute gig opening for Tom Skinner in Tulsa on Wednesday. Should be interesting...
