it was an incredible trip! The Portal kicked off the entire weekend with a 2 set show on the harbor in Long Beach.. We were positioned in front of the Queen Mary cruise liner, and a gigantic dome..a good majority of the cruisers were in attendance, ready to get the madness started and we were happy to provide the soundtrack..
the first set kicked off as the sun was slipping out of sight. We went with the trio of Eboz, Dboz, and Evl_e for a good while.. expirimenting with some stripped down grooves and feeling the collective excitement in the air..then we were joined by our brother Shane "Govinda" O'Madden on violin. the incredible moments began to build on top of one another... playing with the sound like the ebb and flow of nearby ocean, our thoughts flowed through the music and the communal vibes started to pulsate and grow. a sign of the magic that was to come over the weekend.
the 2nd set was a barnburner as Chris Holt from Olospo joined us on Guitar.. we played some smoking dance grooves as the fire spinners pulled off some amazing displays in front of us..

the rest of the weekend was a heavenly mix of food, drink, costume, craziness, and most of all, incredible music. thanks to Neal Turley and Mark McLarry for giving the Portal such an awesome gig and thanks to everyone who participated in the Maiden Voyage of Xingolati.. if you missed it.. dont make the mistake again when it comes around next year!
